Since 2003, Haven Hospice has distributed more than 20,000 copies of Aging With Dignity’s Five Wishes advance directive as part of our community outreach efforts. The document, which meets legal requirements in 40 states including Florida, enables people to express how they want to be treated should they become seriously ill and unable to speak for themselves. The five wishes are: 1. Which person you want to make health care decisions for you when you can’t make them 2. The kind of medical treatment you want or don’t want 3. | Living life at Haven Hospice Russell’s room was abundant with artwork and mounted puzzles—all his handiwork. “Everyone sort of adopted him,” said his nurse. “We were his family. He inspired us all.
