Guests enjoy a country casual evening at Haven’s Fall at the Derby

Our thanks to Black Prong Equestrian Center, a property and facility designed for
the equestrian enthusiast and located in Bronson, the heart of Florida’s timberland,
for opening its doors to guests of Fall at the Derby 2009 Oct. 24. This benefit for
Haven Hospice in the Tri-Counties featured Southern cuisine prepared by The Ivy
House of Williston, fun festivities, and live music by the Rick Gordon Band. We also
thank the wonderful planning committee that made this a successful and enjoyable
event.

All proceeds from Fall at the Derby 2009 will benefit the many programs and
services Haven Hospice provides to the community, including grief support, patient care
and children’s camps.

“This is another example of the tremendous support Haven Hospice continues to receive
from the Tri-Counties community,” said Michael Morse, Haven Hospice vice president
of organizational advancement. “We have been caring for patients and families in the Tri-
Counties area for 30 years, and the businesses and individuals there have generously
supported us from the beginning.”

Thank you, Fall at the Derby sponsors

Pet therapy brings comfort to Haven Hospice patients
Even the tiniest dog is lionhearted, and the same can be said of Mia, a five-month-old Jack Russell terrier who visits with patients at the Tri-Counties Hospice Care Center. “She has a sense when she’s here of what she has to do,” says her owner. Patients welcome Mia like a gift. “It’s soothing for them and they love to pet her.”
