2010 NEFAR Charity Bass Tournament raises more than $15,000 for Haven Hospice in Palatka

It was a fantastic day on the waterfront for the 7th Annual NEFAR Bass Tournament Sat. Mar. 27 at the Palatka City Dock. Those who came out caught and released lots of big fish, ate great barbeque and won prizes. The biggest challenge was staying on the dock as the wind whipped everyone around all day. The NEFAR Charitable Foundation awarded Haven Hospice a check for $15,323, which grew to a grand total of 15,573 when all the barbeque had been purchased at the end of the day.

Special thanks to all the Haven staff, volunteers and the sponsors listed below. We could not have done it without you!

In memory of his grandmother...
Dalton made up his mind to buy a birdfeeder for every room of the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in memory of his grandmother, who died two days before the facility opened. Using a $40 allowance as seed money, the Lake City Middle School sixth-grader raised $570 to purchase 17 birdfeeders. “I thought they would look good outside of every room,” he said.
