NEFAR Charity Bass Tournament

Mar. 27 at the Palatka City Dock

For the seventh consecutive year, the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) will raise funds for the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka through a catch-and-release Charity Bass Fishing Tournament on March 27. NEFAR donates one hundred percent of all proceeds raised to Haven Hospice, and has donated more than $108,000 during the past six years.

This tournament has established itself as one of the favorite events for top fishermen on the East coast, and continues to be the largest source of donations to support Haven Hospice services and programs in the Putnam County area. More than 100 fishermen and women are expected to participate. Volunteer opportunities are available.

Two-person fishing teams leave the Palatka City Dock at safe light and weigh-in is scheduled for 3 p.m. Teams compete for prizes, including a $2,500 guaranteed payback for first prize. There is an 80 percent payback to one in every five boats.  An additional $250 cash drawing for boaters who are present immediately follows the tournament.

For full details, including boaters registration forms and event sponsorship information, contact Nancie Zimmerman at (904) 394-9494, ext. 1320 or Glenn East at (904) 394-9132.

Volunteer staffing is provided by NEFAR’s Putnam Council of Realtors and Haven Hospice team members. Tournament Director Mike Oglesbee of OGS Tournament Trail provides his expertise and time free of charge each year to ensure a successful tournament.

The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) is headquartered in Jacksonville with satellite service centers in Orange Park, Jacksonville Beach, World Golf Village and Palatka. NEFAR is the largest trade association in northeast Florida, serving more than 5,400 Realtor and affiliate members in Duval, Clay, Putnam and St. Johns counties.

In memory of his grandmother...
Dalton made up his mind to buy a birdfeeder for every room of the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in memory of his grandmother, who died two days before the facility opened. Using a $40 allowance as seed money, the Lake City Middle School sixth-grader raised $570 to purchase 17 birdfeeders. “I thought they would look good outside of every room,” he said.
