Patient and Family Volunteers

Patient and Family Volunteers are vital members of the Haven Hospice patient care team. They work closely with hospice nurses, social workers, hospice care aides,chaplains and physicians to assist in providing much needed support for patients, family members and caregivers.

These volunteers provide respite for the family, from reading to the patient to providing companionship and comfort. They provide friendship, support and assistance to patients residing at home, in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals and any of Haven Hospice’s inpatient care centers.

Pegasus Program/Camp Pegasus Volunteers

Pegasus Program Volunteers assist children and young adults facing a life-limiting illness by providing support for the child, the parents and significant others in the young person's life.

Healing Hearts Volunteers

Healing Hearts Volunteers reach out to grieving families and individuals by assisting with support groups for both adults and children affected by the loss of a loved one. They also provide support by phone and assist in the planning and coordination of memorial services and holiday programs that offer a time of remembrance and reflection. Back to Top

Transition Volunteers

Transition Volunteers are trained to provide telephonic support, education and community referrals for individuals and families dealing with chronic illness when they are not eligible for the Haven Hospice program. Back to Top

Chaplain Volunteers

Volunteer Chaplains serve as members of the Haven Hospice team and work closely with staff chaplains to provide emotional and spiritual support and comfort to patients and families. They assist in the planning and coordination of memorial services and act as liaisons for Haven Hospice in the religious communities served. Back to Top

Therapy Volunteers

Therapy Volunteers provide Licensed Massage Therapy as well as music, art and pet therapy. These individuals bring their unique talents to our patients and families. They provide alternative ways to express feelings, remember and reflect and to relieve stress and pain. Back to Top

Speaker's Bureau and Community Outreach Volunteers Volunteers

Volunteers share the hospice message through community education. Whether setting up a table top display at health fairs or making presentations to groups at churches and civic organizations, volunteers have a unique role as Haven Hospice ambassadors. Back to Top

Alliance Volunteers

The Haven Hospice Alliance is a membership organization whose volunteers assist in planning, producing, and participating in fundraising activities, events and projects. They also develop community partnerships and participate in community programs to raise awareness of the Haven Hospice mission. Back to Top

Attic Resale Store Volunteers

Haven Hospice Attic Resale Store Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the stores. They accept and process donated items, create displays, conduct sales and assist with customer service.

The E.T. York Gift Gallery Volunteers

The E.T. York Gift Gallery volunteers help in every aspect of the operation of the gift store. Located just outside of the ET York Hospice Care Center, the gift store provides families and friends an array of items to help their visit to our facility be comfortable. In addition, the gift gallery provides Haven Hospice staff and visitors seasonal gift items to purchase. Back to Top

ArtsCare Volunteers

The ArtsCare program offers area artists a venue to show their work gallery style, rotating between three buildings. Volunteers for this program assist with rotating the art pieces, volunteering their own work and soliciting new artists to the program. Back to Top

Administrative Volunteers

Administrative Support Volunteers provide office support services for departments and teams throughout the organization. They assist by greeting visitors, preparing information and support materials for mailings, answering phones, doing data entry, helping in printing and duplication services, assisting in inventory control, stocking and ordering, filing records and documents and making phone calls. Facilities Volunteers

Facilities Volunteers work with the Facilities Department to maintain and enhance the E.T. York Hospice Care Center, campus, area offices and facilities. Volunteers help with tasks ranging from minor repairs and maintenance such as painting and assistance with deliveries and shipments to facility renovations, carpentry, woodworking and special projects, including caring for donated plants and gardens.
