In just four hours Chiefland Farm Supply/Ace Hardware and the Chiefland community raised $200 to support Haven Hospice.
This was the first year Chiefland Farm Supply/Ace Hardware hosted a gift wrapping fundraiser for Haven Hospice. Chiefland Farm Supply/Ace Hardware Inventory Specialist, Debbie Jones, wanted a way to get the community and her staff involved during the holiday season.
The initial plan was to donate a portion of the Christmas tree sales to Haven Hospice, but the sales were not as high as she had hoped. Jones and her staff wanted a way to give more, so they decided to host a gift wrapping fundraising event.
“We saw that our community really cared,” said Jones. “Once customers saw it was for Haven Hospice, they would just give money and not even get anything gift wrapped.”
All proceeds from the gift wrapping and a portion of the Christmas trees sales were donated to the unreimbursed programs and services for Haven Hospice patients and families in the Tri-Counties.
Jones appreciates what Haven Hospice does for the community, which is why Haven was her choice when choosing a program for a fundraiser. Jones was further inspired by a visit to the Haven Attic Resale Store in Chiefland.
“There was a couple in need and the workers of the store did not hesitate to help them. Those workers had heart, said Jones. “If I didn’t love my job so much I would be figuring out how to get involved with Haven.”
In addition to the monetary donation, Chiefland Farm Supply/Ace Hardware donated about 30 pairs of Ariat boots to the Haven Hospice Attic Resale Store in Chiefland. Jones is enthusiastic about creating future fundraising events to support Haven Hospice.
According to Attic Resale Store Manager Malesa McCleery, the boots have the potential to provide about $150 in sales. All proceeds from the Haven Hospice Attic in Chiefland remain in the Tri-Counties to support unreimbursed programs and services.
