Lake City Residents on Capitol Hill
Lake City, Florida (June 20, 2014) – Jim Poole of Lake City, Haven Hospice vice president of community and legislative affairs joined other representatives from hospice organizations in Washington, D.C. on June 9 and 10 for an advocacy and policy event hosted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) Hospice Action Network. Poole also visited Andrew Johnson of Lake City, intern for Congressman Ted Yoho. Johnson’s father, Tyson is a member of the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Community Action Board (CAB) and a new member of the Haven Hospice Corporate Advisory Board.
Poole not only was representing Haven Hospice but also the Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association (FHPCA) as a member of the board leadership and executive committee in the role of external vice chair. The Hospice Action Network event focused on teaching best practices in advocating for hospice, current hospice public policy topics, and connecting Hospice Advocates directly with their members of Congress through congressional meetings on Capitol Hill. It is the premiere policy event for the hospice community.
