Nonprofit Teaches Children the Joy of Giving with Kids Night at the Attic
Chiefland, Florida (December 17, 2014) – More than 160 children met Santa Claus and picked out holiday gifts for their families which were wrapped by dedicated volunteer “elves” at the annual Kids Night at the Haven Hospice Attic Resale Store in Chiefland on December 9.
Haven Hospice employees, volunteers and members of the community donated more than 660 toys and gifts as well as their time and talents to make the event a success.
“This is our way of giving back to this amazing community,” said Chiefland Attic Store Manager Malesa McCleery. “Our goal for Kids Night is to teach the children how rewarding it is to give as well as receive during the holidays. Unlike other toy programs, we encourage the children to choose presents for their family members to "give" on Christmas.”
Families came together to experience the holiday spirit with Haven volunteers and Attic staff while children, ages 5 to 12, had the opportunity to choose gifts for their family members using Santa Bucks. Haven also offered pictures with Santa Claus and free gift wrapping.
