Gerald Sims (below) of LVeteran Hartake City and Robert Hart (right) of Live Oak were recognized recently for their military service during WW II in the U.S. Army Air Corps by Haven Hospice Veteran Volunteers Wally Reichert and Bill McGrath as well as Haven Hospice Spiritual Care Volunteer Dave Lawson.  Sims served as a crew chief for the B-25 while Hart repaired gyroscopes and automatic pilots on all airplanes, very Veteran Simsmuch like GPS today.

The Haven Hospice Pinning Ceremony for veteran patients includes a veteran pin, a thank you card signed by the staff and a certificate of appreciation from Haven Hospice which are all presented by volunteer veterans.  The presentation ends with a salute to honor the veteran’s service.
