Community members, elected officials and staff… Haven Hospice broke ground today on a 12-room expansion of the E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. Originally built in 1996, the E.T. York Care Center has served more than 17,000 individuals and their families and is the only free-standing hospice care center in the Gainesville area and the first of five, free-standing care centers Haven has built in North Florida.

“In order to continue supporting the growing needs of the community our facility must also grow,” said Haven Hospice Interim President Jim Poole. “The care center is often full, and those patients in need are not able to be cared for in the E.T. York Care Center.”

With the ongoing support of Haven donors the care center continues to provide care to those who need it, close to home. Haven is ready to expand the care center and add the 12 new private rooms which will bring the total number of rooms to 30.

The expansion of the care center will help Haven continue to meet the needs of its patients, their families and our community. With continued donations and gifts, Haven will raise the $3.5 million needed to accomplish this objective.
