Haven Hospice welcomes Dr. Lynn Harper-Nimock, M.D. as the Jacksonville Associate Medical Director. Harper-Nimock joins Haven after spending time as a staff physician with VITAS Healthcare in Jacksonville. She is a board certified, family practice physician who has spent a majority of her career providing house-call services to her patients.

“While I was in school, I spent time as a volunteer with a hospice organization,” said Harper-Nimock of her decision to pursue a career in the hospice and palliative care field. “It was a very unique experience for me. I learned what it truly meant to be with someone at the end of life.”

Harper-Nimock earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where she also attended medical school to become a medical doctor. She performed her post graduate training as a medical intern at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, before completing her residency training at the St. Francis Hospital Family Practice Program through the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee.

“I think Haven has really maintained a focus on getting it right for the patients and their families,” said Harper-Nimock, who has been practicing medicine since 1981. “I believe what is unique about providing hospice care is that there is no do over. If the end-of-life experience for that patient and that family is not stellar, I don’t get a chance to do that again.”

When she’s not in the office, Harper-Nimock is heavily involved with her church. “I’m involved with several ministries there, I teach Sunday school, I am a part of the prison ministry, and I do senior outreach,” said Harper-Nimock, a Jacksonville resident since 1985. “I also really enjoy camping and spending time outdoors.”
