Louis Vickers of Jasper was recently recognized for his military service by Haven Hospice Veteran Volunteers. Vickers served as a Seabee in the United States (U.S.) Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific Ocean theater during his time in the U.S. Navy. The Haven Hospice Pinning Ceremony for veteran patients includes a veteran pin, a thank you card signed by the staff and a certificate of appreciation from Haven Hospice which are all presented by volunteer veterans. Vickers was also presented with a quilt that was created by the Lady of the Lakes Quilting Guild. The presentation ends with a salute to honor the veteran’s service.
