Cecil Perrette of Williston was recently recognized for his military service by Haven Hospice Veteran Volunteers. Perrette served four years in the United States (U.S.) Marine Corps and 27 years in the National Guard before retiring as Colonel in 1976. Perrette was born in Alabama, grew up on his grandparents’ farm, and attended Clemson University on a football scholarship. He then relocated to Florida and joined the U.S. Marines in Tampa, Florida. The Haven Hospice Pinning Ceremony for veteran patients also includes a veteran pin, a thank you card signed by the staff and a certificate of appreciation from Haven Hospice which are all presented by volunteer veterans. Perrette was also presented with a red, white and blue lap throw made by a volunteer in memory of her granddaughter, Jordan Elmore. The presentation ends with a salute to honor the veteran’s service.
