Lynne Simmons of Cross City was recently recognized for his military service by Haven Hospice. Simmons served in the United States (U.S.) Army during Vietnam. Simmons, originally from Michigan, drove trucks during his time in the U.S. Army. He went on to become a tree surgeon and also served as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The Haven Hospice Pinning Ceremony for veteran patients also includes a veteran pin, a thank you card signed by the staff and a certificate of appreciation from Haven Hospice. Simmons was also presented with a red, white and blue blanket made by a volunteer in memory of her granddaughter, Jordan Elmore. The presentation ends with a salute to honor the veteran’s service.
