Roscoe Tanner of Archer was recently recognized for his military service by Haven Hospice Veteran Volunteers. Tanner served in the United States (U.S.) Navy, stationed in Nebraska during World War II. Tanner was born and raised in Levy County and returned there after his time in the U.S. Navy. He went on to become a welder and wood worker often working with local farmers to help repair their farm equipment. The Haven Hospice Pinning Ceremony for veteran patients also includes a veteran pin, a thank you card signed by the staff and a certificate of appreciation from Haven Hospice which are all presented by volunteer veterans. Tanner was also presented with a red, white and blue blanket made by a volunteer in memory of her granddaughter, Jordan Elmore. The presentation ends with a salute to honor the veteran’s service.
